National Research Center for Biochemical Engineering Technology (Shanghai-East China University of Science and Technology) is an engineering center directly under the Ministry of Science and Technology, which was established in 1997. Relying on East China University of Science and Technology, the center focuses on the research on the middle and lower reaches of biotechnology, opens a channel for the transformation of biotechnology laboratory results into industrialization, becomes a product incubator for the upstream achievements of biotechnology, conducts research and development and radiation of key projects and industrialized technologies, and provides one-stop services for enterprises.

There are two enterprises under the Engineering Center: Shanghai Guojia Biochemical Engineering Technology Research Center Co., Ltd. (Guojia Company) and Shanghai Guoqiang Biochemical Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. (Guoqiang Company). Guojia Company is mainly engaged in the research of process optimization, especially the optimization and amplification of microbial cell culture process, including the fermentation of traditional biotechnology products such as antibiotics, amino acids and organic acids, and the fermentation of modern biotechnology products such as genetically engineered Escherichia coli and Pichia pastoris. Guoqiang Company, on the other hand, mainly produces key equipment for research and industrialization in biotechnology laboratories, and produces all kinds of bioreactors. Among them, the product with independent intellectual property rights-bioreactor FUS-50L(A), which is specially used for fermentation process optimization and scale-up research, has been welcomed by the majority of biotechnology research institutions and enterprises. In addition, a shaking table with pH detection and feeding is also produced to meet the needs of biotechnology research.

Since its establishment, the Engineering Center has been engaged in the engineering research of microbial product production for a long time, especially the industrial scale fermentation process optimization and amplification technology research. The team of Engineering Center put forward the research theory of multi-scale biochemical process and biological process system biology for the first time in the world, established the macro metabolic flow detection and control method based on cell metabolism and parameter correlation analysis, developed the equipment specially used for biological process optimization and amplification research, and applied these theories and methods to more than ten kinds of products. He has won three national scientific and technological progress awards and many provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards, undertaken the national key projects from the Sixth Five-Year Plan to the Tenth Five-Year Plan, the "863" project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the key scientific and technological projects in Shanghai and other projects, published the monograph "Multi-scale Research and Process Optimization of Fermentation Process", published more than 65,438+000 academic papers, and included more than 20 in SCI.
