2.BCI was born in the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). BCI aims to monitor the impact of cotton production on the environment and labor force. With the intervention of USAID and Swiss Fund, BCI has developed rapidly from a small organization that was unknown in the past.
Until 20 17, BCI had 85 cooperative brands and 1039 cooperative factories, which could certify 3.3 million tons of cotton produced by global10.3 million cotton farmers.
As a non-governmental organization of cotton industry, BCI has no technology and ability, but because it stands at the commanding height of morality, it can pass certification and scoring evaluation, which has a great impact on the industrial system of cotton industry. This kind of organization is also called "industrial NGO".
