Why can property insurance companies sell sickness medical insurance?

According to the current insurance law in China

Insurance in China is divided into personal insurance and property insurance.

Life insurance is usually called life insurance in a broad sense.

Personal insurance generally includes: term life insurance (death insurance), endowment assurance (death and living insurance), accidental injury insurance, accidental medical insurance, critical illness insurance (including cancer, SARS and other specific diseases insurance), universal insurance (a mixture of life insurance and financial management), long-term care insurance, hospitalization allowance insurance, maternity insurance (mainly group insurance) and medical expense insurance (mainly group insurance).

Health insurance refers to the types of personal insurance other than term life insurance, endowment assurance and universal insurance. In addition, property insurance companies also engage in health-related insurance such as accidental injury, accidental medical treatment and employer liability insurance.

Simply put, health insurance belongs to life insurance in a broad sense, but it does not include death insurance (except accidental injury, it also belongs to health insurance).

Health insurance is also classified as life insurance in the management of CIRC.
