Gymnastics has men's rings, but not women's rings. Why?

In gymnastics, there is a ring competition (Rings in English), which has been an Olympic event since 1984, and it is also one of the competitive events that have attracted much attention! However, I believe many people also have a question: there are only men's rings and no women's rings in the ring competition. ......

So, why is this?

In fact, this is the same as the "phenomenon" that gymnastics has only women's balance beam and no men's balance beam! Specifically, it is related to the following three aspects:

First, the challenge requires too much strength, just a series of loop movements, then somersaults in the air, and finally a smooth landing, which has become a hurdle that female players can't successfully complete, and may even lead to unexpected serious injuries!

Second, the rings are also a "pleasing" competition that needs to show the beauty of muscle lines. From the point of view of physiological differences, male players are very easy to practice and meet the muscle conditions needed for the competition, while female players are a little "difficult to go to the sky"!

Third, the big movements of the rings may also cause embarrassing accidents for female players. This is absolutely not allowed in the live broadcast of regular games, and it is also unacceptable to the players themselves!

In fact, women's gymnastics events include balance beam, uneven bars, vault and floor exercise, while men's events include parallel bars, horizontal bar, vault, floor exercise, pommel horse and rings, which is an inevitable phenomenon caused by differences between men and women!

Of course, it is not ruled out that there will be a "women's" competition in the future. As for when there will be such a possibility, it is unknown for the time being!

Competitive gymnastics, except floor exercise and vault, is set according to the different characteristics of men and women.

In the setting of gymnastics events, the rings require athletes to have greater strength to ensure that athletes can successfully complete various difficult movements of the rings. However, female athletes are relatively weak and are not suitable for ring sports.

Just like uneven bars and balance beam in women's events, these two events pay more attention to the skill and beauty of movements, so they are more suitable for the movement characteristics of women's sports, so they are not in men's events.

Mainly because the ring project does not reflect the elegance and femininity of women.

Women's gymnastics especially emphasizes the expression of women's characteristics. A long time ago, women's competitive gymnastics was actually similar to modern rhythmic gymnastics. Later, the competition became more and more difficult, and it gradually evolved into the current four events. But floor exercise, uneven bars, balance beam and vault are basically skills, and there is no pure strength.

If it is a pure strength event, there will be a group of athletes who are muscular and lose their feminine characteristics, which will ruin the appetite of the audience and seriously affect the popularity of gymnastics. Therefore, international sports federations will never set up women's pure strength events.

In fact, international sports federations have been taking various measures to prevent women's gymnastics from becoming masculine. Because the floor exercise and vault of women's gymnastics need good jumping ability, there are now a number of "chubby" strength female athletes. Although their movements are difficult, they lack aesthetic feeling and cannot be compared with Khorkina in those days. The International Sports Federation has been studying this problem and how to make the women's gymnastics competition more beautiful. I believe necessary measures will be taken in the near future.
