What's the difference between a patent applicant and a patentee?

A patent applicant is a person who applies for a patent for invention at the Patent Office. The patentee refers to the owner of the patent right.

In reality, there are also cases where the inventor and the applicant are not the same person. The main reasons for this assignment are as follows: first, people other than the inventor obtained the right to apply for a patent for invention-creation from the inventor through the contract. Secondly, the inventor's successor obtains the right to apply for a patent for invention and creation through inheritance. Thirdly, the law directly grants the patent application right to others other than the inventor.
