Xinzhou Normal University is located in Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. 1 It is a full-time general undergraduate university established with the approval of the Ministry of Education and supervised by the Shanxi Provincial Government. It is the only general undergraduate university in Xinzhou City, one of the three undergraduate normal colleges in Shanxi Province, and one of the first batch of national-level "Talent Training Model Innovation Experimental Zones" designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.
The predecessor of Xinzhou Normal College was Xinxian Normal College of Shanxi Province. It was founded in 1958 and was renamed Xinzhou Normal College in January 1978. In September 1998, the school merged with Xinzhou Regional Education College, Xinzhou Staff University, and Xinzhou Regional Radio and TV University Branch to form Xinzhou Normal College. In March 2000, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Xinzhou Normal College based on the merger of the original Xinzhou Normal College and Xinzhou Normal School.
