Alcohol, also known as (ethanol), is an earlier disinfectant and preservative, which can coagulate and dehydrate protein of bacteria, thus showing antibacterial effect. 70%~75% medical alcohol can kill bacteria and viruses, but it has no effect on spores. Local application of 70%~90% alcohol can promote the absorption of inflammatory products and relieve pain. Can be used for treating acute arthritis, tenosynovitis and myositis.
Hydrogen peroxide, also known as hydrogen peroxide, is an oxidant. When these drugs encounter organic substances, they will release free oxygen, that is, small white bubbles. Oxidizing the active groups of bacteria, playing a bactericidal role. 1%~3% hydrogen peroxide is commonly used to clean deep suppuration and fistula in clinic. High concentration is irritating to tissues.
Alcohol and hydrogen peroxide do not belong to the same kind of disinfectant. Hydrogen peroxide has a strong oxidizing effect, which can kill germs through oxidation. Alcohol, mainly through osmotic dehydration, causes bacteria to die because of dehydration, and the mechanisms of the two are different.
