It can be applied to central cities, suburban rural areas and even remote areas. In addition, micro gas turbines have advantages in civilian transportation (hybrid vehicles), military vehicles, and land and sea border defense. They have attracted the attention of military powers such as the United States and Russia. Therefore, the development of micro gas turbines is also very important from the perspective of national security.
China's 100-kilowatt micro gas turbine operates at full load
Following the first successful hot start, the country's first 100-kilowatt micro-gas turbine was successfully loaded to 100 kilowatts in Dong'an, AVIC. The rated power generation state and stable operation mark another decisive step in the research on the 100-kilowatt micro gas turbine and its energy supply system.
The 100-kilowatt micro gas turbine and its energy supply system are jointly undertaken by Dong'an as the main implementation unit and jointly with the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and the Aviation Industry Research Institute of Aviation Industry Corporation of China. It is a key micro gas turbine project subject of the National “863 Plan” during the 11th Five-Year Plan. The research team has successively completed the design and development of high-efficiency impeller machinery, low-pollution and low-emission combustion chambers, compact original surface regenerators, high-speed permanent magnet motors, gas turbine controllers and frequency conversion systems, and micro-gas turbines, and has achieved fruitful scientific research results. As a result, more than 30 national patents have been applied for and obtained. During the test, the participating research units adopted an internationally advanced data acquisition system, updated the lubricating oil circulation system, and modified the installation platform, gas turbine support bench and exhaust system to create conditions for the test run.
A decisive breakthrough in the development of 100-kilowatt micro gas turbines will help improve my country’s research and development capabilities for micro gas turbines and related products, form a relatively complete independent intellectual property system and manufacturing capabilities for my country’s micro gas turbines, and pave the way for the development of micro gas turbines. Gas turbines provide support for the core distributed energy supply industry. At the same time, it will shorten the gap between my country's micro gas turbine development level and the world's advanced level. In the next step, participating research units will conduct recuperation cycle tests and engineering demonstrations, striving to complete the project tasks as soon as possible and realize the leap from basic research to engineering applications of micro gas turbines.
