How do foreigners or foreign enterprises apply for trademark registration in China?

Article 1 of the Trademark Law stipulates that "foreigners or foreign enterprises applying for trademark registration and handling other trademark matters in China shall entrust an organization designated by the state to act as an agent." In other words, China implements the agency system for foreign trademark registration. At present, there are several foreign-related trademark agencies in China, namely, the Trademark Agency Department of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Trademark Office, China Patent Agency (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Patent and Trademark Office and Yongxin Patent and Trademark Agency Co., Ltd. located in Hong Kong. Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan Province enterprises applying for trademark registration and handling other trademark affairs in the mainland shall entrust China Patent Agency (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. or Yongxin Patent and Trademark Agency Co., Ltd. located in Hong Kong to handle them.
