MIPS helmet is a kind of bicycle helmet. This helmet was originally designed to provide better head protection for cyclists during riding and reduce the risk of head injuries caused by accidental falls. Mainly by setting a special protection system inside the helmet, when the head is hit, the system can effectively reduce the rotating impact force and disperse the impact force in multiple directions.
The structure of MIPS helmet consists of two parts: one is foam shell, and the other is internal MIPS protection system. Foam shell provides lightweight and comfort for helmet, and MIPS protection system is located between foam and helmet lining, which is a very thin layer of material. When the head is hit, this layer of material will play a role in dispersing the impact force.
Development course of MIPS helmet
1, 1995: Hans Horst and Peter Hans Halding started to develop a new helmet protection system, aiming at reducing the rotational impact when the head is hit.
2. 1996: They applied for the patent of MIPS technology for the first time. Since then, MIPS technology has gradually attracted attention from the industry.
3. 1997: MIPS technology is first applied to bicycle helmets. This new helmet was first produced in Sweden and received a good response in the market.
4. 1999: MIPS technology is further improved, and thinner and lighter materials are used as the protective layer. This improvement improves the protective performance, comfort and air permeability of the helmet.
