Shandong Fruit Research Institute was founded in 1956 and is affiliated to Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the largest specialized agricultural research institution in Shandong Province. Mainly engaged in the research, promotion and development of apples, pears, peaches, apricots, plums, cherries, pomegranates, hawthorns, chestnuts, walnuts, dates, kiwis, grapes, strawberries and other fruit trees. The institute has made remarkable achievements in research on fruit tree breeding, foreign fruit tree introduction, fruit tree biotechnology, low-cost and efficient on-hook automatic cold storage, facility cultivation technology, and pollution-free standardized cultivation technology. It has played an important role in the development of fruit trees in Shandong. There are 238 postgraduate employees, including 9 with doctorate degrees, 21 with master's degrees, 46 professional and technical personnel with senior professional titles, and 24 professional and technical personnel with intermediate professional titles. They are engaged in fruit tree resources, breeding, fruit, fruit storage and processing, plant protection, ornamental horticulture, There are 8 research laboratories and 1 testing ground for information and data.
