Chengdu University is an institution. Chengdu University was established in 1978 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It has inherited a century-old history of running schools. It is the first undergraduate institution established by Sichuan Province and Chengdu City and a key comprehensive university in the national central city of Chengdu.
Chengdu University has a century-old tertiary-level comprehensive hospital and the Sichuan Antibiotic Industry Research Institute, a national antibiotic research and development base. The school has the right to confer bachelor's and master's degrees, and has a postdoctoral practice base. The school is the Ministry of Education’s “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan” university, the Ministry of Education’s National Defense Education Characteristics University, the Ministry of Education’s “Double Thousand Plan” first-class undergraduate major construction site project unit, and the Sichuan Province doctorate authorization project unit.
