Brief history of microcapsule technology development

Wuster and Green are two great pioneers in the field of microcapsules.

Microcapsule technology began in 1930s, but it developed rapidly. Up to now, more than 100 laboratories have been developing microcapsule technology.

The invention of colorless pressure-sensitive adhesive copy paper is the first successful application of microcapsule technology in business. By 198 1 year, the output of this microcapsule exceeded 5× 106 tons.

The application scope extends to medicine, pesticide, adhesive, liquid crystal and other fields.

1936165438+1October: fishermen on the Atlantic coast submitted a patent application for preparing gelatin microcapsules containing cod liver oil in liquid paraffin.

1940 10, Gelatin Products Co., Ltd. put forward a patent application for preparing double-walled microcapsules containing drugs by using concentric three-layer pointed holes. 1949 65438+1October: The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation put forward a patent application for microencapsulating solid particles by using the air suspension method invented by Wurster.

April 1950: Eastman Kodak Company filed a patent application for preparing mixed particles with coating (i.e. microencapsulated) emulsion and tricolor pigments for color photography.

1950165438+1October: General Deng Lupu Company filed a patent application for the preparation of alginate microcapsules with double-layer pores.

1953- 1954: NCR company put forward two patents for preparing oil-containing gelatin microcapsules and four patents for preparing microcapsule pressure-sensitive copy paper by the above method. This patent has been applied all over the world except Japan.

1March, 956: NCR company filed a patent application for microencapsulation of photoelectric materials.

In April, 1957: NCR company applied for the patent of composite microcapsule technology for color photography.

June 65438+August 0957: Moore Buslness submitted a patent application for microcapsules using spray drying technology.

1957165438+1October: General Allianz Film Company filed a patent application for microencapsulating the photographic emulsion of ethyl cellulose into mixed particles.

65438+March 0958; Xerox submitted a patent application for preparing microcapsules containing liquid imaging regulator.

65438+May 0958; NCR Company submitted a patent application for preparing heat-sensitive adhesive by microcapsule technology.

June 1958: NCR Company filed a patent application for the preparation method of oil-containing polystyrene microcapsules. In this method, monomers are used and an in-situ polymerization process is applied.

1958 65438+February: Upjohn filed nearly 20 patent applications. They are all microencapsulation methods of "emulsion". In these patents, some improved the coagulation method of NC R and applied thickener. Some people put forward the method of phase separation in organic solvent system; Some people have proposed methods to solidify gelatin microcapsules ... some similar methods. 1963, all these patents were transferred to NCR company.
