We obtained a set of patent application drawings of the Wei brand coupe this morning. The styling of this car can be said to be very different from the past, reflecting a very high aesthetic level. However, according to past practice, the views now exposed are only 3D models of UG or Solidworks, and they should all be the first version. When the specific concept car or mass production car stage comes, there should be corresponding optimizations for mass production implementation and cost control. In human terms, it means transforming some things that are difficult to mass-produce in concept so that they can be produced. Front row reminder, there will be a surprise at the end!
Without further ado, let’s show the patent drawings.
It can be seen that the current status is still in the appearance design state, but a curve or curved surface shape patent has been applied for, and it is not a mass-produced car. Therefore, many details are not yet available. However, there is actually a lot worth saying about this model.
1. Dimensions and geometry?
Judging from this three-dimensional model diagram, Wei brand’s new GT coupe adopts a design with four wheels at the four corners, but because of the fastback shape at the back, it seems that the rear wheels are not so at the corners. . This is also the consistent design of models under Great Wall's new energy strategy. The long wheelbase enhances the interior space of the vehicle and provides greater installation space for the battery.
Based on the corresponding models of other luxury brands in the past, such as Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS, the length of Wei brand's new coupe may be around 5100mm, the wheelbase may reach 2950mm, and the interior space will be very large. Generous. As for the width and height, it currently seems that the width of the car is about 1950mm and the height is about 1400mm. So with this size, this car is positioned as an executive-level coupe.
2. What details are worth noting?
(1) Look at the sensor layout on the car body
Based on the urban sensor solution (which does not rely on high-precision maps) strategy previously released by Wei Pai at the Chengdu Auto Show, the new GT The coupe will be equipped with more sensors. We can see on the front of the car that there is already an ACC millimeter-wave radar and a front-view camera on the lower grille. The two sensors above the fangs are most likely lidar to detect metal. Objects provide reference information for sensor solutions for autonomous driving. In addition, we also make a reasonable guess that the roof of this car may also be equipped with a top-mounted lidar like Ideal or NIO to complete higher-level intelligent driving assistance.
(2) Body design details
Let’s turn this model around and look at the new car from a rear 45-degree angle. First of all, it is worth noting that the line design of this car is very smooth, but the angle between the front windshield and the hood is still slightly steep. Referring to the wind resistance coefficient of similar models, it is guessed that the wind resistance of this car may be 0.23~0.25Cd . At the same time, the four exhaust pipes at the back tell us that this is a plug-in hybrid model, which at least has an internal combustion engine.
The taillights of this car currently use a split independent headlight design, but judging from the current design language of Wei brand models, the taillights are likely to be connected in the middle to form a through-type headlight. taillight. The tailgate still uses the traditional sedan opening method, and the rotating axis is not on the C-pillar, which is somewhat unexpected.
Looking at the front and side, you can see that this new car uses a hidden door handle design, which should be pop-up like the one on the Blue Mountain. Notice that the rear door and C-pillar of this car adopt a unique double rear triangle window solution, which looks very novel. Looking at the roof part above, the new car is likely to use a huge canopy instead of an openable sunroof. Of course, this is just a concept car. I don’t know if it will change when it is mass-produced.
(3) Interior style - mechanical-looking LCD instrument and Dalian screen on the right
The leaked information about the new Wei brand car not only includes the appearance design, but also the instrument panel. out. Looking at the instrument panel, there must be three screens inside these three barrel-type instruments, each used to display different content.
The blank part on the right side should be a large through-type double screen, and it is likely to be integrated (no seams in the middle). According to the material covering distribution of this model, it can be found that a large number of soft screens will be used in the car. It should be wrapped with high-quality materials, and the main front panel (penetration strip) should be a large piece of glass.
Another thing worth noting is the central control part. According to Great Wall’s human-computer interaction in the past two years, there is a high probability that these knobs are the controllers of the air conditioner. There should be a watch between the two air outlets above. Its function should be similar to the Maserati Grecale, which can display time, G value and so on. (Of course, it may be a double flash button, I hope not)
Look at the area below the air vent. These two knobs should be the physical temperature adjustment knobs of the left and right zone air conditioners. The bottom one is the volume and screen. Switch control. It is worth noting that the groove in the middle is the wireless charging panel for mobile phones, and the power may reach 50W.
3. What will be the form of power?
Please take a look at the license plate frame of this car. This is the unique proportion of new energy license plates. Therefore, we can boldly infer that this car must be an electric drive model. Of course, the energy form may be pure electric. Or DHT-PHEV. But given that Wei brand currently does not have a pure electric model, and there are four huge exhaust pipes at the rear, we are more willing to believe that this car is still a high-efficiency hybrid model using series-parallel hybrid.
As for the parameters, you can refer to the parameters of Wei Brand Lanshan DHT-PHEV, which uses a 1.5T four-cylinder engine matched with dual motors. The combined maximum power is 380kW, the maximum torque is 933Nm, and the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers may be as low as It is about 5.5L, and the acceleration time from 0 to 100 is about 4.9 seconds.
Written at the end:
As the leading automobile company in China, Great Wall Motors actually has its own feelings. How can a passenger car company not build cars? As the product that best reflects the designer's style and line design capabilities, the GT coupe is naturally an excellent choice to showcase its strength to the outside world. The large GT coupe model launched by Wei Brand this time fully reflects the design level of Great Wall designers. PS: The GT project has actually taken shape before. The concept car is the one below. This patent picture is the concrete expression of this concept car.
Excellent works are certainly the foundation for best-selling products, but having a good product name is also very important. This new car should continue the name of the coffee series. What do you think it should be named? I think this car should just be named Wei GT DHT-PHEV. What do you think of the design of Wei's coupe? Or if you have any other thoughts and opinions, you are welcome to leave a message in the comment area. See you in the next issue!
