What do Chinese Academy of Sciences think of originality and intellectual property rights behind the suspension and bombardment of HowNet?

I don't agree that HowNet uses many academic articles of original authors to sell knowledge. Not only do they not give these original authors relevant benefits, but their prices are too high, which will greatly hinder many people's academic research and knowledge use.

As the largest academic paper database and academic electronic resource integrator in China, HowNet can charge some related articles in order to maintain such a huge income from servers and academic articles. However, it does not support the principles of originality and intellectual property rights. Many authors who write papers actually have to pay for the use of articles themselves, and many original authors have not obtained the relevant payment rights.

I don't approve of hownet selling high-value knowledge articles.

Because HowNet exists on the Internet as an Internet carrier, the collection of many academic articles and the maintenance of servers need money and personnel to maintain. Therefore, I personally don't object to some related fees used in academic articles, but in reality, the price of HowNet fees is not only too high, but also does not protect the relevant rights and interests of the original authors. In a sense, it has used its resource privilege to form an academic monopoly. This is also its idea and confidence to dare to sell high-value knowledge articles.

HowNet should protect the legal rights and intellectual property rights of creators.

Any original article requires the creator to write through a lot of painstaking efforts and energy. Therefore, original articles are very precious to creators. HowNet should protect the legitimate rights and interests of the original authors while including these original academic papers. Only in this way can we promote academic development and knowledge reference in academic circles, and many knowledge workers are more willing to share their valuable experiences with others.

HowNet should share relevant sales with the original authors of academic articles.

In this regard, I personally think that HowNet should obviously carry out corresponding technical reforms in the future. When selling many authors' original articles, we should also give the relevant sales share. I just need to withdraw some expenses related to platform maintenance. HowNet itself sells articles with extremely low marginal revenue cost and rich profits. More attention should be paid to improving the living conditions and treatment of academic workers.
