Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge Project is located in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area, Hunan Province. It was designed by the world famous designer Heim Dotan (HaimDotan) and built by China Construction Sixth Bureau. The total length is 430 meters and the width is 6 meters. The relative height of the bridge deck from the bottom of the valley is about 300 meters. The bridge deck is all paved with transparent glass, and there is no reinforced concrete pier in the whole project. From design, construction to completion and opening up, it has been widely concerned by the world bridge industry, the global media and the public because of its multiple particularities such as high technical requirements, harsh materials selection and difficult on-site construction. During the construction, China Construction Sixth Bureau, the contractor, overcame many difficulties, actively popularized and applied "Ten New Technologies in Construction Industry", and creatively set up a pedestrian glass bridge integrating walking, sightseeing, bungee jumping, zip line, stage and other functions between two alpine canyons, creating the world's first cable-stayed glass bridge in alpine canyons, the world's highest and longest glass bridge and the largest space cable-stayed glass bridge with horizontal rise-span ratio. At the same time, the related technologies used in the construction of glass bridges have also obtained 1 1 patents, and the scientific and technological achievements have reached the international leading level.
According to industry insiders, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon glass bridge project has a decisive influence on the innovative development of design and construction technology of cable-stayed glass bridge with special-shaped space, and has become a demonstration project of global bridge construction. This bridge is listed as "one of the 11 most spectacular bridges in the world" by CNN and praised as "the symbol of the power of new China" by CBS.
