What documents and materials do I need to prepare to apply for a design patent?

A. Application materials

1, indicating the type of patent application (design);

2. The name, address and nationality of the applicant (the applicant may be a natural person, enterprise or other legal person);

3. Name, address and nationality of the inventor or designer (the inventor or designer should be a natural person);

4. Where priority is claimed, the country, date and application number that provided priority;

5. Other requirements of the applicant for the application.

B. Letter of appointment

The power of attorney shall be signed or sealed by the applicant (if the unit applies, it shall be stamped with the official seal).

C. Design-related documents

Pictures or photos designed by 1. (in quadruplicate);

2. Use the design to state the name and category of the product;

3. Pictures or photographs refer to the orthographic six-sided view and three-dimensional view of the product for which the design is applied. If the views are symmetrical, one view can be omitted;

4, a brief description of the main creative part, whether to protect the color and omit the view;

5. For designs that need color protection, it is best to submit two color and black and white pictures or photos at the same time;

6. Where priority is claimed, a copy of the priority document shall be provided.
