Hu Zhengyu’s main achievements

The current main research areas are freshwater algae biotechnology and algal taxonomy. In terms of taxonomy, 22 new species and 4 new varieties have been published; 15 genera have been reported, and 64 species are new records for China; as the volume editor, he is responsible for the compilation and research of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's major projects of the 9th and 10th Five-Year Plan for Biology. The compilation of "Chronococcus Chlorococcaceae" (Volume 1 and 2) and "Chlorococcales Chlorococcaceae" (volumes 1 and 2) and "Chlorococcales Chlorophyceae China"; published an article on the cladistic systematics of Diplophyceae, which supplemented the classification system of Diplophyceae; Completed the study of the phylogenetic relationship among Chlorococcus families (14 families, 75 genera, 314 species, 103 varieties and 6 variants have been recorded), and proposed a new classification system of Chlorococcus; in addition, in Nodida (cyanobacteria) Good research progress has also been made in the molecular systematics of Sphingophora (green algae). In terms of biotechnology, in recent years, research on the life history of Nautococcus mammilatus has demonstrated for the first time the ultrastructure of the algae's floating cap; a new cell division method and cap-like structure and system in the genus Sphingomyces have been discovered The scientific significance has aroused the interest and concern of international colleagues; research on the composition, formation mechanism and biological significance of algal fat droplets, research on the physiological response mechanism of single-cell green algae under high CO2 concentrations, and research on the physiological ecology of Nodida, etc. Important progress has also been made, especially in artificial culture. The factory farming project of Ge Xianmi that he presided over successfully solved the problems in the cultivation of Ge Xianmi. On this basis, Wuhan Zaolong Bioengineering Co., Ltd. has been established. A series of Ge Xian rice products have been launched, and the artificial breeding of Nostoc has also achieved phased results. He is currently undertaking research work on a number of topics including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National 863 and 973 sub-topics. He has published more than 50 papers in important domestic and foreign publications and applied for 4 patents.

On October 9, 2012, he was appointed deputy director of the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (term of 5 years).
