BMW 3 Series Airbag System Structure and Principle

The 1.3 series airbag is mainly composed of sensors, microprocessors, gas generators and airbags.

2. Sensors and microprocessors are used to determine the degree of crash, transmit and send signals

3. The gas generator generates an ignition action according to the signal instructions, ignites the solid fuel and generates gas to the air bag. Inflate to rapidly expand the air bag. The air bag capacity is approximately (50-90)L.

4. The airbag is equipped with a safety valve. When it is over-inflated or the pressure in the bag exceeds a certain value, it will automatically release part of the gas to avoid squeezing and injuring passengers.

5. The gas used in airbags is mostly nitrogen or carbon monoxide.

6. The gas used in the airbag is the gas produced by the explosion of azide. It does not contain carbon monoxide and is mainly N2.

7. The sensor measures the acceleration. When the acceleration reaches a certain value, the microprocessor sends an ignition signal to ignite the azide, causing it to explode and produce gas that is filled into the air bag.
