In which city is the first empty track in China?

Enshi, Hubei.

On June 6th, 2020, the first "empty track" operation line in China officially started construction in Enshi, Hubei. The total length of this project is 2. 1 km, with 3 stations. The train is organized in two sections, with a capacity of 170 people. As a transportation project connected by passengers, driving around cliffs is also an important tourist facility.

The "empty rail" train is a suspended monorail train. The track is above the train and supported in the air by steel or cement columns. It has unique advantages such as less land occupation, broad vision, short construction period and flexible formation. The Qingyunya tourist line project in Enshi, Hubei Province is not only an important infrastructure of Qingyunya resort, but also a tourist facility, connecting the main import and export and characteristic tourist attractions of the resort in series.

Lin Chengchao, general manager of China Railway Science and Industry Group Co., Ltd. said that after two years of research and development, the company has formed a set of suspended rail transit system technology with independent intellectual property rights, and has applied for 40 patents. Qingyunya Tourism Line Project is located in a contiguous poverty-stricken area in Wuling Mountain. After the project is completed, it will play a certain role in poverty alleviation of 28 deep poverty-stricken villages such as Shadi Township, Cuijiaba Town and Hongtu Township in Enshi City.

Development of domestic air rail

In order to solve the traffic bottleneck problem in the core business district of the city, Changning District of Shanghai has begun to study and demonstrate the suspended air train system, and it is expected that the "air train" will be piloted in Dahongqiao area during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period.

Ye Li, a professor at Tongji University's School of Transportation, said that the "air train" is a good hand to solve the traffic problems of urban regional micro-circulation system, traffic nodes and hubs, and functional venues. The suspension air train system driven by electric power has the advantages of reliability, land saving, short construction period, low noise and no waste gas emission.

An "air train" with medium capacity can carry 1 10,000 to10.5 million passengers/hour during peak hours. And its cost is only about half of that of rail transit.

Shanghai will build a suspended aerial train in the city center, connecting several core business districts in series, and the design scheme is being demonstrated. Skytrain's design concept and model will be displayed at the first China Industrial Design Innovation Exhibition.
