What is the material of silicon steel and what is its use?

Silicon steel is a ferrosilicon alloy. The material of silicon steel is iron-silicon soft magnetic alloy with low carbon content, and the silicon content is 0.5%~4.5%. Silicon steel can be divided into hot rolled silicon steel strip (sheet), cold rolled non-oriented silicon steel strip (sheet), cold rolled oriented silicon steel strip (sheet) and high magnetic induction cold rolled oriented silicon steel strip (sheet).

Silicon steel sheet is the most widely used soft magnetic material in electrical field, so it is also called electrical steel sheet. Silicon steel sheets are widely used in motors, generators, transformers, chokes, electromagnetic mechanisms, relays and measuring instruments.

For example, the silicon steel sheet with a thickness of 0.35~0.50mm is widely used in the motor industry, and the thin strip steel with a thickness of 0.05~0.20mm is often used in telecom high frequency technology, mainly to reduce eddy current loss more effectively. Generally, the thickness of hot-rolled silicon steel sheet is 0.35~0.50mm, which is mostly used for large, medium and small AC and DC motors. The thickness of cold-rolled non-oriented silicon steel sheet is 0.35~0.50mm, which is mostly used for large alternators and motors, large, medium and small AC and DC motors. The thickness of cold-rolled unidirectional silicon steel sheet is 0.35mm, which is mostly used in power transformers, reactors and magnetic amplifiers. The thickness of cold-rolled unidirectional thin strip is 0.05~0.20mm, which is mostly used in radio high frequency transformers.
