Will gypsum in mortar react with polycarboxylate superplasticizer? Why?

Gypsum in mortar will not react with polycarboxylic acid water reducer. Gypsum and polycarboxylic acid water reducer have different functions in mortar and will not react directly. Adding a proper amount of polycarboxylic water reducer into mortar can improve the rheological properties and processability of mortar, and improve its working performance and durability. Gypsum is mainly used as external wall insulation material and indoor decoration material. If the cement in the mortar contains high sulphoaluminate content and too much polycarboxylic acid water reducer, some adverse reactions may occur, such as longer setting time and slower hardening time of the mortar.
