Do you think this food map represents your hometown?

I looked carefully at this national food map just now, and I really didn’t see my hometown or the food from my hometown on this map. My hometown is Hebei. I only saw Xianghe meat pie and donkey meat roasted on fire, but these are not the delicacies of my hometown. So I think this picture is not representative.

My hometown is Tangshan, Hebei Province. Tangshan is also a city of gourmet food, with many special delicacies, but it is not reflected on this national food map, which I have to say is a pity.

Honey sesame candy

Honey sesame candy is a specialty of Tangshan. Honey sesame candy originated during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 400 years. My hometown, Fengrun District, Tangshan City, is the origin of Tangshan honey sesame candy. It is made from the main raw materials of flour, white sugar, honey and peanut oil through ingredients, kneading, drying, clearing, chopping, frying, soy milk and other processes. It has uniform slices, paper-thin slices, and bright color. Light yellow, beautiful like jade carvings, fragrant, sweet and crisp. It is a great gift for visiting relatives and friends.

Qizi Shaobing

Qizi Shaobing is also a specialty of Tangshan and a famous food on JD.com. It is shaped like a small drum and is as big as a chess piece, hence its name. Chess pieces, sesame cakes are made with oil and water, donkey fat and sesame oil are used to make a crispy cake, then wrapped in meat and baked in a steel oven. The meat filling is fresh and fragrant, crispy and delicious but not greasy. In 2019, my wife’s sesame cake making skills were selected into the fifth batch of Tangshan City’s representative list of municipal intangible cultural heritage.

Hongyan Pork Pork

Hongyan Pork Pork is a famous specialty dish in Tangshan. It is known as the No. 1 dish in Tangshan. In Tangshan, no one knows about it. It is our intangible cultural heritage and is deeply loved by our local people. It's purple-red and shiny on the outside, particularly attractive, and crispy on the inside, fat but not greasy, and melts in your mouth. Just taking a look at it will make you salivate, and taking a bite of Hongyan elbow will leave you with endless taste.

If you are lucky enough to come to Tangshan, you must try our Tangshan specialties for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
