What is liquid crystal glass?

Liquid crystal glass, also called electrically controlled liquid crystal glass, electrically controlled dimming glass and dimming glass, is named after liquid crystal film, the core material of dimming glass. Therefore, after the finished product is made, it is used to be called LC glass abroad (usually called smart glass, switchable glass, privacy glass, PDLC glass and magic glass).

Liquid crystal glass is a high-tech photoelectric glass product with laminated liquid crystal films at high temperature and high pressure. Users can control the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules by whether the current is energized or not, so as to achieve the ultimate goal of controlling the transparent and opaque state of glass. Liquid crystal film in the middle layer is used as the functional material of dimming glass. The application principle is: liquid crystal molecules are arranged in a straight line when power is applied, and the liquid crystal glass is transparent at this time; When the power is cut off, the liquid crystal molecules are scattered, and the liquid crystal film is transparent but opaque. Scientists use this characteristic to develop liquid crystal glass products. The patent was first obtained by Kent State University in the United States, and it was the first in the world to authorize Polytronix, Inc in Texas, USA to mass-produce liquid crystal film products (the first brand of Polyvision privacy glass). Later, South Korea and Japan also developed the technology of this product, even surpassing American products in many aspects. We are proud that many national enterprises in China are studying this product and have made breakthroughs. The quality of products is catching up with the world level. I believe that in the near future, domestic products can surpass Japan, South Korea and the United States and become the world's number one.

1) liquid crystal glass is opaque under normal circumstances, and it can only be changed from opaque to transparent under a certain voltage; The electrochromic glass itself may be transparent.

2) Liquid crystal glass needs constant voltage application to remain transparent, which is an energy-consuming product, but its energy consumption is relatively low; Electrochromic glass has bistable characteristics. By adjusting the light transmittance of the glass, the state of the glass can be maintained for a period of time after the voltage is removed.

3) Ordinary liquid crystal glass can only be adjusted between transparent and opaque states; Electrochromic glass can usually be adjusted to different light transmittance levels under different voltages.

4) The main principle of liquid crystal glass is to achieve the purpose of dimming according to the orientation of liquid crystal molecules under the action of voltage; The main principle of electrochromic glass is that electrochromic materials undergo redox reaction under the action of voltage, and then the color and transparency change to achieve the purpose of dimming.
