Six major international journal retrieval systems:
(1) Science Citation Index, also known as "SCI". Founded in 1961, it is edited and published by the Institute of Information Science (ISI). It is a large-scale multi-disciplinary comprehensive retrieval system that mainly reports scientific and technological documents in the fields of life sciences, medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, agriculture, and engineering technology. The literature comes from scientific journals and includes a small number of monographs, conference papers and book reviews. In 1999, it included 3,579 important journals from all over the world. "SCI" ??core edition has included 17 Chinese journals. In 1999, "SCI" ??CDE included 13 Chinese journals, including "Chinese Science Series A", "Chinese Science Series B", "Journal of Chemistry in Colleges and Universities" and Chemistry in China, etc., only account for 0.39% of the world's journals included. The expanded version of "SCI", namely "SCIE", includes more than 5,000 journals, including 56 Chinese journals.
(2) The American "Engineering Index" (EI). It was founded in 1884 and edited and published by the American Engineering Information Company. It is a large-scale retrieval system that mainly collects engineering technology journal documents and conference documents. The content of the collected documents includes the following engineering fields: bioengineering, civil engineering, geology, environment, mining, Petroleum, metallurgy, machinery, fuel engineering, nuclear energy, automobiles, aerospace engineering, electrical, electronics, control engineering, chemical industry, food, agriculture, industrial management, mathematics, physics, instrumentation, etc. The annual literature report volume is more than 100,000, and more than 2,600 journals are selected, including not only printed and CD-ROM versions, but also online versions (EI Compendex Web). More than 1,000 of them are core journals, and all papers are included. Papers from more than 1,000 non-core journals are selected for inclusion.
"EI" is an internationally renowned and important retrieval tool in the field of engineering technology. "EI" Compendex included 96 Chinese science and technology journals in 1999, including 19 university journals, accounting for about 3.5% of the included journals. For the expanded version of "EI" EEIpageone, 153 Chinese journals have been included. In recent years, the number of Chinese journals included in "EI" is still relatively large, and the number of "EI" papers produced in Chinese science and technology journals accounts for nearly 50% of the total number of "EI" papers in my country.
(3) Chemical Abstracts (Chemical Abstracts) of the United States, namely "CA". It was founded in 1907 and is a large-scale chemical and chemical engineering literature retrieval system currently co-published by the Chemical Abstracts Service of the American Chemical Society, the British Chemical Society and the German Chemical Information Service. It includes about 12,000 journals from 150 countries every year, as well as a large number of monographs, proceedings, patents, etc. It is the most comprehensive and widely used large-scale chemical and chemical engineering literature retrieval tool in the world. In 1998, "CA" included 561 types of Chinese journals, including 171 types of university journals. In 1998, 89 Chinese journals entered the CA Thousand Journals List.
(4)Russian "Digest Magazine" (Pechpa Tliniibi HKypiia Ji), namely "AJ" or "PЖ". It was founded in 1953 and is edited and published by the All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technological Information (VINITI). It is the world's largest comprehensive abstract magazine, with the most cited publications, the largest amount of coverage, and the most comprehensive coverage of subjects. Includes more than 20,000 publications from more than 130 countries. In 1988, 131 Chinese journals were included. With the deepening of opening-up work and deepening exchanges, by 1999, the number of Chinese journals included in the system had reached 193, accounting for about 0.95% of the included journals.
(5) Japan's "Scientific and Technical Literature Express" is "CBST". It is the world's most famous large-scale comprehensive document retrieval system. It contains more than 12,000 journals published in more than 20 languages ??in more than 50 countries around the world, including 6,300 Japanese journals. In 1999, the number of Chinese journals included increased to more than 132, accounting for approximately 2.64% of the total number of journals.
(6) British "Science Abstracts" (SA).
Founded in 1898, it is edited and published by the Institution of Electrical Engineers in the UK. It is a retrieval system that mainly reports on achievements in physics, electricity, computers and automatic control from various countries around the world. It currently includes more than 2,800 journals. Most of my country's more important journals in this field have been included. In 1998, 117 Chinese journals were included, accounting for about 3.2% of the included journals.
