Cao's scientific research achievements

In the field of structural engineering and disaster prevention and mitigation engineering research, he has successively presided over more than 30 provincial and ministerial-level key scientific and technological projects, such as national key scientific and technological projects in the Ninth Five-Year Plan, major scientific and technological support projects in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, national natural science foundation projects in Beijing, and key provincial and municipal natural science foundation projects. Important creative achievements have been made in the research fields of high-rise building steel structure, reinforced concrete structure, steel-concrete composite structure and mixed structure, recycled concrete structure, structural disaster prevention and seismic control. As the first finisher, he won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award 1 (2003), three first prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards (1997, 2000 and 2005) and six second and third prizes. In addition, as the main researcher, he won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress 1 item and the first and second prizes of provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress respectively. 1. Contribution in the field of seismic research of large and complex high-rise buildings: put forward "steel truss concrete composite shear wall and tube", "concrete filled steel tube frame-steel truss concrete composite shear wall and tube" and "lower frame-upper suspension damping structure system of core tube", and put forward seismic and energy-consuming damping components matching with the seismic system; On the basis of systematic seismic test research, its seismic theory is established, and the design method and structural measures of multi-combination seismic structure system of high-rise buildings are systematically put forward, forming a complete set of design techniques. This achievement has been applied to the seismic design of more than 20 large complex super high-rise buildings, especially 10 large landmark buildings, which has produced remarkable social and economic benefits, showing its great engineering value and application prospect. In 2008, the research results passed the expert appraisal organized by the Ministry of Education, and the appraisal conclusion: "The research results have reached the international leading level."
