How to charge 800km 1 min?

Recently, for Tesla, a subsidiary of China Wanxiang Group has just made a breakthrough in the battery field, which will make its battery technology a thing of the past.

Fisco, a California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, recently filed a patent application, showing that its solid-state battery technology will achieve 2.5 times the energy density of traditional lithium batteries, with a cruising range of 500 miles (805 kilometers) and only 65,438+0 minutes to fully charge!

In contrast, if the Tesla Model S uses the super charging pile with the fastest charging speed, it takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to fully charge, and the battery life is 300 miles (483 kilometers).

Fisco said that its solid-state batteries are expected to be mass-produced around 2023. Solid-state battery is also regarded as the future of battery technology, and its working principle is the same as that of traditional lithium battery. The core difference between the two is that in terms of electrolyte, solid-state lithium batteries have replaced the liquid electrolyte in traditional lithium batteries.

Fabio Albano, vice president of Fisco battery system, said that their technological breakthrough marked a "new era of solid materials and production technology". He mentioned that Fisco is solving the obstacles encountered in the commercialization of solid-state batteries, including the performance in low-temperature environment and how to establish a low-cost and large-scale production process.

In the patent document, Fisco mentioned that in order to solve these problems, their solid-state battery adopted a three-dimensional electrode, the surface area of which is 25 times that of the common thin-film electrode of solid-state battery, and it has high electronic and ionic conductivity, thus realizing fast charging and low-temperature operation.

In fact, solid-state batteries are not a brand-new research field. Scientists have been studying this technology in the laboratory for many years. However, due to the problems of production cost and durability of charging cycle, this product has not been applied.

In addition to Fisco, other companies and scientific research institutions have also invested considerable energy in this research and development field. For example, NEDO (Japan New Energy Industry Technology Comprehensive Development Agency) made a research and development plan as early as 2008, and planned to realize mass production of solid-state batteries by 2030, including solid lithium metal, solid lithium sulfur and solid lithium air batteries.

In July this year, Toyota of Japan made new progress in the patent of solid-state batteries, and announced that it would launch a new electric vehicle equipped with all-solid-state batteries in 2022. Volkswagen has also said that it is already planning the next generation battery for electric vehicles, which is a solid-state battery with a mileage of more than 65,438+0,000 kilometers and will be mass-produced in 2025.

In recent years, the health and large-scale popularization and application of new energy vehicles largely depend on the support of power batteries with high safety and long cruising range. At present, the technological progress of power batteries for new energy vehicles will be driven by the dual pressures of national policies and external competition, which requires technological breakthroughs and breakthroughs of new lithium-ion batteries to achieve subversive innovation.

For power battery enterprises, now is the best period and the worst period. The automobile ecosystem believes that the "tough battle" of battery energy density has started, and the pattern of power battery industry will be shuffled.

In order to enter the competitive echelon in the future, enterprises need to focus on two points: first, they need to change their thinking mode and "be prepared for danger in times of peace", from extensive large-scale development to a development model that pays equal attention to technology and scale, and accelerate the technical reserve of all-solid-state lithium batteries or new lithium-ion batteries; Second, we should pay attention to the safety of products, not only strengthen cooperation with vehicle manufacturers, but also check quality inspection to avoid the "Takada airbag" incident in the power battery industry.
