Trumpchi GS4 6AT gearbox is the biggest highlight

GAC Trumpchi has recently become a popular domestic brand with the GS 8. Looking back, GAC Trumpchi fought a good battle with the GS4, selling tens of thousands of units every month, and has always ranked first among SUVs. Top three sales. GS4 can be said to be a major contributor to GAC Trumpchi, giving GAC the confidence to independently develop more advanced models. The popular GS4 has quietly changed. This time it came to our editorial office equipped with an Aisin 6AT gearbox, and it actually brought us more surprises.

The GS4 235T automatic model continues to use the second-generation 1.5T turbocharged engine independently developed by GAC, using patented GCCS fuel control technology, DCVVT ??dual continuously variable valve timing mechanism, and variable displacement engine. Oil pump, cylinder grinding technology, low inertia electronically controlled turbocharger and other technologies. Even with the multi-point injection method, the overall data performance is very eye-catching.

The change in the gearbox is the biggest highlight of this minor revision. It uses a 6-speed automatic manual transmission provided by Aisin. This makes people have great expectations for its smoothness. It also provides four driving mode choices, E economy, D daily, M manual and S sport mode. The transmission reacts differently in each mode.

As always, the GS4 6AT version is equipped with Michelin PRIMA CT 3ST Haoyue tires, size 215/55 R18, a tire that focuses on balance and has good performance in handling and quiet performance. It can solve the trouble of car owners upgrading and changing tires.

Let’s first talk about the power performance of GS4 equipped with Aisin. There is no change in the power data. By increasing the transmission ratio and sensitive initial throttle adjustment, people feel that the GS4 is full of momentum, but this is only at the moment of starting. The actual low-torque performance of the engine is quite satisfactory, which is somewhat related to its use of manifold injection (the concentration of fuel injection cannot keep up with the boost rate), but the GS4 will not feel weak in daily driving.

When the speed reaches 1800rpm and beyond, I find that there is another surge of power. This is more confident than at the beginning of the start, and the feeling of pushing the back is stronger. This is the beginning of the real explosion of the engine, the acceleration is improved again, and overtaking is more confident. Of course, it's normal to feel a little tired after the speed exceeds 5,000 rpm.

The selection of driving mode further optimizes the gearbox shifting logic. In the economy mode, the driving tends to be lazy, and the speed will hardly exceed 2000rpm. It will even upshift early at 1800rpm. If you release the accelerator, it will often even reach idling state, allowing the vehicle to glide further and improve fuel economy; at the same time, it will downshift. Also quite unmotivated. In daily mode, the throttle is slightly more sensitive and the gear shift is delayed until 2000rpm to better explode engine performance. As for S gear, the throttle is further optimized, upshifting only when the speed reaches at least 3000rpm, and the speed is also kept above 2000rpm, allowing power to explode at will.

During the test, Qingshan mostly drove in economy mode and daily mode. The gearbox and the engine are perfectly matched. The gearbox can detect the driver's intentions and handle the relationship between gear and speed silently in the background, making it difficult to detect the impact of gear changes.

Switch to manual mode, and the gearbox executes upshift and downshift commands very well. The gearbox does not upshift on its own, and it also executes downshifts well within a reasonable speed range. In terms of downshifting, this gearbox does not show a very performance side. For example, if there is a sudden kick of oil on the floor while cruising, the vehicle will pause momentarily and the transmission will quickly drop two gears and then increase speed. If it is judged that the speed is not high enough, the gearbox will drop another gear to increase power output. The overall gearbox adjustment is still biased towards comfortable driving, and the smoothness of downshifting to speed up is still quite high.

In E economy mode and D daily mode, the transmission can enter neutral coasting state by releasing the accelerator to improve fuel economy. However, unlike other models that coast in neutral, the 6AT gearbox setting of the GS4 is a bit slow. When you release the accelerator, you need to let the vehicle coast for a while before entering the neutral state. It is more like a computer confirming whether it really needs to be entered. In the coasting state, the speed will not drop when the throttle is briefly released, and the response will be faster when the speed is increased again. Of course, when you step on the accelerator while coasting, the combination of speed and gear is very weak, and there is no frustration.

No need to expect a passionate expression when turning, it will make you travel more comfortably.

The steering is not very light, but it also cannot exercise the unicorn arms. The steering precision and responsiveness are comfortable, especially in additional steering. The GS4 is half a beat slower. Of course, this is not a problem. The same is true for the positioning of an SUV; the centering torque is moderate and it will not compete with you. The direction size is on the large side, which is really suitable for slow-paced driving.

The chassis performance of GS4 is well-known, and it is an excellent performance among domestic brands in the same level. Of course, replacing the gearbox this time will not affect the performance of the chassis. The GS4 chassis creates a solid feel, and its performance in overcoming potholes makes people confident, without the Japanese "flabby" appearance. However, under the recommended tire pressure of 2.2kg/m?, fragmented vibrations will be transmitted to the car more obviously. High-speed stability performance is also good. The GS4 6AT version chassis maintains its consistently high standards of tuning.
