Why is it said that the electric light was not invented by Edison, but by Tesla?

Everyone remembers Edison’s famous saying: Genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. This great inventor left about 2,000 inventions throughout his life, which are respected and used by future generations. However, the following nine inventions do not actually belong to Edison, maybe you don't know.

No.1? Electric light bulb or incandescent lamp

If you ask a child who just went to school now, who invented the light bulb, this will definitely be an unquestionable answer: Thomas Edison .

But in fact, Edison neither invented the electric light bulb nor obtained the first patent for the modern electric light bulb (incandescent lamp). Before Edison "invented" the electric light bulb in 1979, the light bulb had appeared and existed for about 50 years, and at that time, Edison did not obtain a patent for this "invention" either in the United States or the United Kingdom. But Edison used tungsten as the filament and greatly improved the light bulb, thus extending its life to the point of use.

Edison and Nikola Tesla, known as the "Father of Alternating Current," had always had disputes over the power supply system. Until Edison's death, he still did not agree with Alternating Current. The current power supply system is divided into two types: direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC). Edison first invented direct current (DC) to light the lamp, and Tesla, who worked under Edison, developed alternating current. Since Edison always Disapproving of the alternating current system, Tesla left angrily and found cooperation with George Westinghouse. A few months later, an alternating current power grid was established in Pittsburgh. From then on, Edison regarded Tesla as an enemy.
