1. National defense security
China originally built Beidou for China's national defense security. Because during the Gulf War, the United States shut down Iraq's GPS, Iraq's navigation as a whole failed, and most missiles of the Iraqi armed forces also failed, because there was no American GPS. At that time, GPS navigation was the most widely used in the world. If the United States shuts down China's GPS navigation, the consequences will be unimaginable. For this reason, China began to develop its own Beidou navigation system to avoid the Iraqi situation in the Gulf War. Subsequently, due to the development needs, the Beidou navigation system was partially converted from military to civilian. Of course, Beidou navigation system is mostly used for national defense and civil use, but that is not important. When the GPS is turned off, we can switch to Beidou as soon as possible.
2. Reduce the cost of navigation equipment production.
This is also a reason why Beidou navigation system changed from military to civilian. Because now those navigation equipment manufacturers have to pay patent fees to the United States for every GPS navigation equipment they produce, and they also have to pay patent fees for GPS navigation in cars. This is a huge market. Beidou entered the civilian market just to get a piece of the action. This will not only give Beidou a chance, but also protect the civil navigation market in China. The most important thing is to protect the map information of our country from being stolen. Therefore, China is now rapidly laying out the civil market of Beidou navigation, which is bound to cover GPS.
Generally speaking, the original intention of China to create Beidou was for national defense security. Later, for the market of China, the Beidou navigation system was partially changed from military to civilian.
