According to the statistics of the world patent database, there are 10943 Chinese medicine patents in China, but only 0.3% of them have been applied internationally. In contrast, there are 170 companies and more than 40 research groups in the world looking for and testing new drugs from traditional Chinese medicine. Japan and South Korea have seized more than 70% of the international market share of proprietary Chinese medicines, among which more than 40 kinds of natural medicines from 10 countries and regions have been registered in China.
