Which food is rich in selenium?

Butter, fish meal, lobster, mushroom, pig kidney, garlic and other foods contain a certain amount of selenium, but the absorption rate is not ideal. Nutritionists advocate supplementing organic selenium, such as selenium polysaccharide, selenium yeast, selenium eggs, selenium-enriched mushrooms, selenium-enriched malt, selenium-enriched gastrodia elata, selenium-enriched tea and selenium-enriched rice.

The relationship between selenium intake and soil selenium content is greater than that with diet. Soils in the United States and Canada seem to contain enough selenium. Studies on vegetarians and vegans in the United States found that they consumed enough selenium. Selenium exists in many foods, but Brazil nuts, whole grains (whole wheat bread, oatmeal, barley), white rice and beans are particularly abundant.

Eggs contain more selenium than meat. In every 100g food, pork contains 10.6 micrograms, eggs contain 23.3 micrograms, duck eggs contain 30.7 micrograms, goose eggs contain 33.6 micrograms, ginseng contains 15 micrograms, and peanuts contain 13.7 micrograms. The selenium content of plant food is determined by the selenium content in local soil and water. For example, the selenium content of grain produced in high selenium areas in China is as high as 4~8 mg/kg, while that in low selenium areas is 0.006 mg/kg, with a difference of 1000 times.
