Types of patent literature retrieval

Modern patent documents can be divided into three types: first-class patent documents, second-class patent documents and patent classification data.

Patent documents refer to various forms of patent specifications. Secondary patent documents, that is, patent documents, patent names, patent indexes and official publications of various patent affairs published by the Patent Office, mainly refer to patent bulletins and patent indexes. Patent classification data is a tool to classify and retrieve patent documents according to the theme of invention technology, namely patent classification table, classification table and classification table index. Patent specification is the main body of patent literature, and its main functions are: first, to disclose technical information; The second is to limit the scope of patent rights. When any patent information user searches for patent documents, what he finally wants to obtain is the full-text patent documents. Only in the patent specification can we find all the technical information of the patent application and the accurate legal information of the patent protection scope.

The contents of patent specifications in various countries gradually tend to be consistent, forming a fixed format, which can generally be divided into three parts:

(1) Home Page-Patent Document Description Project

Descriptions of patent documents include the characteristics of all patent information, and have the characteristics of expressing legal information, such as patent applicant (or patentee), application date, application disclosure date, examination announcement date, patent approval authorization date, etc. With the characteristics of patented technical information, such as the name of the invention, the summary of the technical content of the invention, representative drawings or chemical formulas, etc. Priority abstract, as well as representative drawings or chemical formulas. For the priority application, there is also the priority application date, application number and application country.

In order to make it easier for the public to understand the patent document description project and computer management, ICIREPAT of Paris Union has formulated the Unified Code (INID) for the patent document description project. The code is represented by two Arabic numerals enclosed in circles or brackets, and is introduced as follows:

(10) document tag

(1 1) submission number (or patent number)

(12) Literature

(13) country or institution that publishes patent documents

(20) Domestic registered projects

The unified use of the above codes enables the description of patent documents to achieve international unified standards.

(2) Summary (including claims)

Generally, there are the following parts: a. Background of the invention. Used to point out the technical field to which the invention belongs and the shortcomings of the existing technical level; B. overview of the invention. This paper introduces the general situation of the invention and how to realize it, and briefly explains the functions of various elements and the effects of the invention. C the brief description of the drawings and the description of the best scheme are detailed descriptions of the invention. If there are any drawings, they will be explained in combination with various elevation views and section views. This is the most important part of this manual, which provides information about the best solution to technical problems. D. claim. List the scope of protection requested by the applicant. Its rigorous wording is the main basis for the patent office to decide to grant a patent right when examining it, and it is also important legal information, that is, the legal basis for judging whether it is patentable or not.

(3) Attached drawings

The purpose of the attached drawings is to further explain the contents of the invention for understanding and implementation. The attached drawing is only a schematic diagram of the inventive concept, and there is no strict scale requirement for the drawing size. If the description of an application for a patent for invention can be clearly expressed in words, the appended drawings are not required, and the description of an application for a patent for general utility model must be accompanied by drawings.

There is no uniform international standard for the order of the above three parts of the manual. China's patent specification consists of the title page, the patent claim, the invention content and the attached drawings. Patent bulletins and patent indexes are second to none. In addition to the general characteristics of the second patent document, the second patent document also has its particularity. It is not a patent document published once, processed by any patent document collection department, and then published. The second patent document was published by the same institution that published the first patent document, the Patent Office. Some second-level patent documents are legal publications, just like first-level patent documents. Patent announcements in secondary patent documents are usually published at the same time as primary patent documents. Most importantly, the second patent document is not only a summary of the contents of the first patent document, but also a supplement to the contents of the first patent document, such as a further announcement of the legal status and rights change of the published patent application.

Common secondary patent documents include: patent bulletin, official patent abstract weekly, official patent index, and official publications on the change of legal protection status. The main purpose of secondary patent documents is not only to disseminate information about new inventions and creations for which patents are applied, but also to announce patent affairs. Usually, people classify and manage patent documents, that is, organize patent documents in different categories according to the composition of invention and creation technology in patent documents, so as to reveal the basic content of each patent specification, what patented technologies are available in a certain technical field, and the mutual relationship and connection between various patented technologies. Classification methods are systematic, artificial and rigorous, and play an important role in the management and utilization of patent documents. Because the classification method of patent documents is different from that of other things and has particularity, in the long-term management and use process, various patent classification materials have been produced to meet the needs.

Patent classification data mainly include the following categories:

(1) Patent Classification Table

Patent classification table is a specific form of patent classification method, which divides the whole application technology field into several categories and represents the corresponding technical topics with a specific symbol system according to certain principles. Commonly used patent classification tables include international patent classification table, American patent classification table and British patent classification table.

(2) Classification definition

Classification definition refers to classification table, British patent classification table, etc. , which defines the scope of various technical topics and shows the relationship between a specific patent classification and other categories.

(3) Classification table index

Classification table index, also known as keyword index, is a subject word arrangement table that represents the patent classification number corresponding to a technical subject.
