Nanyang Medical College is the merger of Nanyang Health School and Zhang Zhongjing Medical College approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2004, and was upgraded to Nanyang Medical College. Among them, Nanyang Health School was founded in 1951; Nanyang Zhang Zhongjing Chinese Medical College (formerly Zhang Zhongjing Chinese Medical University) was founded in 1985.
The school currently covers an area of ??1,058 acres, with a school building area of ??381,000 square meters and fixed assets of 410 million yuan. The total value of teaching medical equipment is 138 million yuan, including 2,300 units (sets) of teaching equipment with a total value of 45.77 million yuan. The library has a collection of 609,000 volumes and more than 1,300 Chinese and foreign periodicals. The magazine "Traditional Chinese Medicine Forum" founded by the library is publicly distributed at home and abroad. It is a central forum for studying Zhongjing's theory and the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine. It has the country’s first-class traditional Chinese medicine herbarium, medicinal botanical garden, slice processing factory, totem book integrated management system and Chinese biomedical database mirror site. The school is equipped with a gigabit campus network, an electronic reading room and a live surgical teaching system. A comprehensive experimental center has been established, including 7 functional, morphological, basic, clinical and other comprehensive medical laboratories and 1 modern education technology center.

During the transition period, the technical secondary school department will be retained and 23 majors will be offered, including medicine, medicine, nursing, and technology. The three affiliated hospitals undertake all clinical teaching tasks and provide guarantees for students' internships and traineeships.

It has established talent employment contact points in 15 provinces and cities across the country, and has signed a joint school-running intention with the Australian IBT Education Group, and cooperates with the British Bell College to run 2 1 and 2 2 undergraduate and master's degree classes.
It has signed a joint school intention with South Korea's Yucun Group Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute, South Korea's Kunhwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., China-Korean Traditional Medicine Vocational and Technical College, and New Zealand University of Oriental Medicine to organize overseas classes of Chinese medicine and recruit classes for international students of Chinese medicine.
