Introduction to PEDOT:PSS
PEDOT:PSS (molecular structure as shown on the right) is a polymer aqueous solution with high conductivity. According to different formulations, aqueous solutions with different conductivity can be obtained. As can be seen from the name of the compound, the product consists of PEDOT and PSS. PEDOT is a polymer of EDOT (3 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene monomer), and PSS is polystyrene sulfonate. Together, these two substances greatly improve the solubility of PEDOT, and the aqueous solution conductor is mainly used as the hole transport layer of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic solar cells, organic thin film transistors, supercapacitors and so on. Bayer company in Germany holds the patent of PEDOT:PSS monomer EDOT, and has developed polymer aqueous solutions with different conductivity.
