Why can't China make his own operating system?

Rome was not built in a day.

Back to Windows, Microsoft's Windows has also developed for decades, and Windows has reached its present scale and become the dominant position on the desktop.

And this position is not entirely because of Microsoft's excellent technology, but because of the recommendation of a series of companies such as IBM, Intel, HP, DELL, Compaq, DEC, etc. These companies have driven hundreds of thousands of applications to run well on Windows, including IE browser, MS Office, Flash, PDF and so on. Of course, there are all kinds of games.

2. The way to kill Windows is not to build a similar system.

The dominant position of Windows in the desktop system has been unshakable. Even if China builds one, it won't help, and it won't change the pattern of desktop system.

After all, the operating system is an ecosystem, not a single software. With huge investment, a project can be made into a software, but it cannot be made into an ecosystem. This requires the kernel, software, users, partners, industrial chain, business ecology and many other aspects to grow and develop, in order to gradually mature.

If it is only an operating system with specific functions in a specific field, it is meaningless to commercialize it on a large scale in the end. If we can't control the ecological chain and realize commercialization, everything will be in vain. At present, hardware manufacturers are still dominated by Europe and America. Although China is already on the rise, it is impossible to become a fat man, and it takes time to accumulate.

3, there is no need

The reason is that the current desktop operating system and industrial chain are very mature and global, so there is no need to build a similar one in China. Even from the perspective of information security, a larger proportion needs to build better methods to achieve the goal.

4. Patent barriers

Even if a software company can make a similar system in China, as long as it is commercialized, it will fall into the patent trap of Microsoft. With the accumulation of Microsoft for decades and the formation of the dominance of desktop systems, it is bound to have built a moat in the patent field, just waiting for relevant companies to jump in.

5, the cost is high

Netizens who have paid attention to the field of science and technology must know a common phenomenon, and research and development is a very expensive behavior. Especially for the operating system, a product that can't achieve benefits in a short period of time, it is not affordable for ordinary companies. Because cultivating a global popular operating system requires not only the accumulation of time and technology, but also a strong industrial alliance.

In the mobile field, apart from the closed system of Apple's IOS, Android is actually a free and open source operating system based on Linux. The so-called open source means that everyone can use it for their own independent development. Why do you have to spend money to develop it yourself? Any enterprise must consider the cost of products, not ~

However, as a strategic need, it is necessary to have its own operating system in the long run. For example, both Ali and Huawei have their own operating system development. Although it is still the world of Android, at some special moments in the future, the significance of having your own mature operating system will emerge. Having your own system has no practical significance in the short term, but it has strategic significance in the long run.
