After more than 30 years of research and development, the Fujian Institute of Material Structure of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has formed the first generation of coal-to-ethylene glycol technology, and took the lead in realizing industrialization internationally. In 2009, it built the world's first 200,000-ton coal-to-coal-to-ethylene glycol technology. The ethylene glycol industrial demonstration device leads the development direction of the world's coal-to-ethylene glycol technology.
Yao Yuangen, a researcher at the Fujian Institute of Material Structure of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told China News Network that the Fujian Institute of Material Structure of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has continuously innovated and made breakthroughs in coal-to-ethylene glycol technology and developed three new catalyst systems. A new technological process has been established to realize the efficient utilization of precious metals and the replacement of toxic metal chromium, significantly reducing the cost of catalysts and forming a new generation of coal-to-ethylene glycol technology with a complete intellectual property system. Related research*** has applied for 52 national invention patents and has currently obtained 15 authorized patents. It is currently the most advanced coal-to-ethylene glycol technology at home and abroad.
