Euv cancels patent

In recent years, China's shortcomings in the chip industry have become increasingly worrying. Overtaking domestic chips in corners has become the wish of many Chinese people.

According to the State Council's plan, the self-sufficiency rate of domestic chips will reach 70% by 2025. 20 19 years, this figure is about 30%.

At present, China's chip industry faces two major problems. If these two difficulties can be overcome, the goal of 70% self-sufficiency rate will not be a problem.

Edwiin.xuan, research director of Qianmen Asset Investment, said in an interview with Securities Daily that manufacturing technology, mask aligner and industrial software are two major factors that restrict the development of semiconductor chips in China.

Mask aligner is directly related to the precision of semiconductor manufacturing and determines the most advanced technology of chips.

In order to break through the process node of 10nm chip, EUV mask aligner with light source wavelength of 13.5nm is essential. This is why Samsung and TSMC compete for the production capacity of ASML EUV mask aligner every year.

At present, ASML is the only company in the world that can produce EUV mask aligner.

However, it is extremely difficult for China to break through the mask aligner issue. Mask aligner is known as "the crown jewel of modern semiconductor industry", with high technology content, which can be said to be the crystallization of modern top technology.

Behind ASML, only with the support of 5,000 suppliers can EUV mask aligner be produced. So it is difficult for China and mask aligner to break through.

Industrial software is that lifeblood of industrial manufacture. Among them, EDA, as the "mother of chips", is located in the most upstream of the whole chip industry, and it is easy to get stuck in the neck of the global chip industry.

Unfortunately, China's EDA industry is being monopolized by overseas. Candence, Synopsys and Mentor Graphics of the United States occupy 95% of the market in China.

Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo and so on. All adopt EDA products of the above enterprises.

This must arouse vigilance. Fortunately, China has made a small breakthrough in the field of EDA, among which Huada Jiutian is the leader of EDA in China.

Today, Huada Jiutian has commercialized EDA tools and other products for wafer manufacturing, and won more than 400 customers such as Ziguang Zhanrui and Huawei.

As can be seen from the above, it is not an easy task for domestic chips to overtake in corners, and many difficulties need to be overcome.

Edwiin.xuan also said that the possibility of fundamentally solving these two problems is very low, and it is necessary to "focus on whether ordinary products that have passed the patent period can be copied and improve the self-sufficiency rate of chips".

In recent years, China has issued more and more policies to accelerate the progress of the semiconductor industry.

At the same time, China is the largest semiconductor market in the world, and the huge demand will stimulate the development of related enterprises in China. More and more capital has also poured into China's semiconductor industry.

Affected by this, there is great hope for China to achieve the goal of 70% chip self-sufficiency.
