On November 4, 2002, based on the original cooperation, Hunan Changfeng Group and Japan's Mitsubishi Motors held a signing ceremony for the technology transfer contract for the Pajero iO model in Changsha, and jointly developed and produced the Cheetah Feiteng. Provincial and municipal leaders, representatives from both sides, and more than 100 news media including CCTV, China People's Broadcasting Station, and People's Daily attended the signing ceremony. Industry insiders said that the successful signing of the agreement means that Changfeng Group is fully prepared to enter the Chinese household off-road vehicle market. The agreement includes a full set of technical documents and patent licenses for the Pajero iO 2.0-liter model introduced and produced by Changfeng Automobile. According to the agreement, Changfeng Automobile will have the exclusive right to use the Pajero iO model in China in the future. Not only does it mark the strengthening of cooperation between Mitsubishi Motors and its Chinese partners, but the new models introduced also fill the gap in China's 2.0-liter off-road vehicle market.
