After that, all kinds of work came one after another, the most important of which was the design of the dome of the cathedral of Our Lady of Flowers (14 19- 1436) and the sacristy room of the church of San Lorenzo (1421-kloc-0/440). The complicated history of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Flowers needs no elaboration. It should be mentioned that in 14 18, only the dome has not been started. The problem at that time was that no one knew how to build the dome after the church was designed in the last century. This dome is bigger than the Pantheon in Rome, and no larger dome has been built since the Pantheon. Because city aristocrats are forbidden to use buttresses, and they can't build scaffolding high enough and strong enough (and there is not enough material), it is difficult to know how such a large dome was built, even just to prevent it from falling down. It must also be considered that statics had not developed at that time, and the gypsum used would take several days to solidify, so it would take a long time to be supported by scaffolding. 14 19, the wool business association held a competition to solicit architectural plans, and its main competitors were ghiberti and brunelleschi. This time, Buruneleski won and was appointed.
The dome, light pavilion (built in 1436- about 1450) and ear hall (built in 1439- 1445) occupied most of Berunelesky's life, and his success was undoubtedly attributed to his technical and mathematical abilities. More than 4 million bricks were used to build the dome. In order to transport building materials to high places, he invented the crane, which was obviously inspired by Vitruwe's description in Ten Books on Architecture. The book describes the machinery used in the construction of large-scale buildings such as the Pantheon and Diocletian Bath in the 1 century, which he can still see with his own eyes in Brunalesky's time. In order to prevent others from plagiarizing their own achievements, Buruneleski applied for a patent for this crane. Burunelesky was also awarded the first modern patent for the transport ship he invented.
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo (1419-1480s) and the Cathedral of the Holy Ghost (1441-kloc-0/481), designed by brunell, became the models of Renaissance architecture.
