Installation of anti-collision system on Pearl River Bridge

It was learned from the relevant Guangzhou urban construction department that the piers of the Pearl River Bridge will be equipped with anti-collision systems.

According to the urban construction department, all major bridges in the city are safe so far, but judging from historical records, the 47-year-old Old Pearl River Bridge has been hit the most by ships. For this reason, the municipal department The Pearl River Bridge is now starting to install an anti-collision system, with an investment of up to 4 million.

The Pearl River Bridge located in the west of Guangzhou City is a dual-purpose railway and highway bridge connecting the Guangzhou-Sanjiang Railway and Guangzhou City to the west bank of the Pearl River. The bridge connects two east and west bridges. The east bridge crosses the Pearl River from Zhongshan 8th Road to Datansha Island, and the west bridge crosses the Pearl River from Datansha Island to Guangfo Highway and Fangcun Avenue.

The construction of the old Pearl River Bridge began in October 1958 and was completed and opened to traffic two years later. Since the waterway under the bridge is an important waterway in the city, ships carrying sand and bricks pass by frequently. Therefore, compared with the cross-river bridges (such as Haizhu Bridge and Renmin Bridge) in the front channel of the Pearl River, the Pearl River Bridge has been collided with passing ships many times, and many ships have escaped after the accident. In addition, there have been many injuries caused by car collisions on the bridge.

At the same time, the two wings of the Pearl River Bridge have been completed and opened as new elevated viaducts for the Guangfo Radiation Project of the Inner Ring Road, and the traffic flow is denser than before. In view of the lessons learned from the collision of the Jiujiang Bridge and the past injury record of the Pearl River Bridge, the municipal department launched a project to install anti-collision devices on the Pearl River Bridge. It is understood that the Office of the Guangzhou Downtown Transportation Project Leading Group has issued a tender announcement and plans to install anti-collision devices on the bridge piers. In addition to 193 tons of steel structures, the materials required also include 184 rubber string guards for the bridge piers and 28 sets. Anti-collision flash lights, etc., with a total investment of about 4 million yuan. It is understood that the Nansha Fenghuang No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 bridges to be launched during the year are all major projects in Guangzhou. The three extra-large bridges span wide waters and will connect the Lingshan Peninsula, Hengli and Zhujiang Nongchang after completion. The designs of the three bridges are all adopted. Determined by the form of international bidding, the investment is as high as 980 million, which is a rare large-scale investment in urban construction.

Although the construction of the bridge has not yet started, the relevant departments have also launched the seismic performance and wind resistance stability test research project of the Phoenix No. 1 and No. 3 Bridges, focusing on the study of the connection method and seismic performance analysis of the junction between the bridge and the tower. , statistical analysis of wind speed data at the bridge location, as well as wind resistance performance analysis and measures of the design plan (including during construction), etc., hoping to take precautions to ensure the safety of the bridge.

It is understood that the main bridge of Fenghuang No. 1 Bridge is a single-tower, single-cable-plane steel box girder cable-stayed bridge, and the main bridge of Fenghuang No. 3 Bridge is a mid-support tie-rod cable-stayed steel-concrete composite arch bridge. These types of bridges have structures that clearly protrude from the river surface and are relatively vulnerable to wind and lightning strikes. At 5 a.m. on June 17, 2002

A cargo ship rushing from Xiaotang, Nanhai to Heshun, due to the high tide of the Pearl River, the top of the ship crashed into the third hole of the West Bridge of the Pearl River Bridge. (Navigation Bridge Hole), the steel beam at the bottom of the bridge was knocked off, and the ship was stuck for more than two hours. The highway bridge deck of the Pearl River West Bridge from west to east was blocked for nearly 13 hours. It is reported that this is also the first time that the boat causing the collision with the Pearl River Bridge has been captured after the Pearl River Bridge has been hit many times.
