There are 15 laboratories in the whole department, including 4 basic chemistry laboratories (inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry), 6 specialized laboratories (chemistry teaching method in middle schools, chemical engineering foundation, environmental monitoring, water pollution control engineering, biology and computer application), 4 scientific and technological innovation laboratories and instrument analysis laboratories 1, with a total laboratory area of about/kloc. It can accommodate more than 300 people to carry out scientific experiments at the same time, and the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is nearly 2 million yuan. Modern large-scale precision instruments include: high-power electron microscope, atomic absorption spectrometer, infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrometer, gas chromatograph, electrochemical analyzer and so on. All laboratories are reorganized into open design laboratories, which provides favorable conditions for better serving teaching and scientific research. They can not only meet the needs of teaching and scientific research, but also undertake the tasks of analysis, testing and organic synthesis of sub-projects in the upper class of society, and solve some technical problems for the society.
The department attaches great importance to education, teaching and scientific and technological innovation, and the strength of teaching and scientific research has increased year by year, forming a strong academic atmosphere. He won the first prize of the 4th National Exhibition and Appraisal of Educators' Inventions and Scientific and Educational Achievements 1 and the first prize of Shiyan Educators' Science and Technology Innovation Competition 1. In recent years, teachers in this department have published more than 300 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 90 core journals, more than 30 SCI, 3 EI and more than 50 CA, and won the third prize in Hubei Province 1 paper, 4 in Shiyan City, 6 in Shiyan City and 0/paper in Shiyan City. Undertaking 8 key teaching and research projects of the Provincial Department of Education and 18 school-level key teaching and research projects, and applying for 4 national patents; Three textbooks were published publicly, and more than one textbook 10 was compiled by ourselves. At present, the department has initially formed a research group focusing on fine organic synthesis, pesticides, drugs and chemicals, analysis and testing, biotechnology and environmental pollution prevention and control projects, and won the first place in the school's scientific research achievement award for three consecutive years.
The chemistry department has gradually formed the spirit of "unity, forge ahead, pioneering and innovation". Two teaching and research sections were awarded the title of "Excellent Teaching and Research Section", six courses were rated as "excellent courses" and 1 course was rated as "excellent courses" by the school. In 200 1 year, the basic chemistry laboratory passed the evaluation and acceptance of the provincial education department and became a "qualified laboratory in colleges and universities" that reached the national standard. In 2002-2003, chemical education, applied chemistry and environmental protection were all rated as "qualified majors" by the Provincial Department of Education.
