computer programs are also called "computer software". A logical method that enables a computer to accurately describe the required functions through the sequence of instructions. The computer itself can be patented as a machine, but the computer program is a mathematical logic method, which is generally not protected by all countries. With the wide application of electronic technology, a new industrial sector and a new commodity, computer program, have emerged. Therefore, there is also a need to protect the products of such creative activities. The newly revised patent law of the United States, which came into effect on December 12, 198, has listed computer programs as the object of copyright protection. However, some scholars believe that it is not appropriate to use patent law or assignment law to protect software, because the life of software is short and often changes, while the protection period of patent is generally 1-2 years, and the protection period of copyright is longer. If necessary, it is more appropriate to issue separate laws and regulations for software protection. The World Intellectual Property Organization also held an expert meeting to discuss the protection of computer software. The meeting suggested supplementing the Patent Law, Copyright Law and Unfair Competition Law, and establishing a computer program protection system as appropriate.
