Is it bigger and better looking than Fit? The new Fengfan hatchback version is released, all series are equipped with 1.0T three-cylinder engine

Recently, Honda released a set of official images of the new generation Fengfan hatchback.

The new car is based on the sedan version and will be the first to make its debut in Thailand in the future. According to Honda's official statement, the hatchback version of the Fengfan will replace the Fit's market position after it is launched. However, the Fit's sales days in the Thai market or Southeast Asia are coming to an end. We will not have the chance to see "Taizi" playing with the Fit in the future.

However, judging from the current evaluation of new cars by domestic consumers, it is not a bad thing for the Thai market to replace the Fit with the hatchback Fengfan, because many people think the Fengfan hatchback is more fragrant than the new Fit.

So, what is the hatchback version of Fengfan, a Southeast Asian specialty, like?

In terms of appearance, the front half of the new car is consistent with the sedan version. The front face does not use a U-shaped mouth design. The full LED headlights have a 9th-generation Accord feel, and the style is more sporty. The straight waistline on the side of the car runs from the headlights to the taillights, which creates a visual extension, making the car body appear slender.

However, what is puzzling is that the fuel tank cover on the left side of the new car is above the taillight and has already entered the C-pillar area. Judging from this design, the trunk of the new car is neat and tidy. There may be a small impact. ?

In the rear part of the car, the new car is obviously derived from the sedan version, and even the taillights are almost the same as the sedan version. This is a common practice of Japanese cars in Southeast Asia. For example, the sedan/hatchback Toyota Vios is a specialty of Southeast Asia. Let’s not talk about the aesthetics. The designers really save trouble, and Honda really saves costs.

In terms of size parameters, the length and wheelbase of the hatchback version of Fengfan reach 4345mm/2589mm respectively, and the car width reaches 1748mm. Compared with the car, which is 4.1 meters long and less than 1.7 meters wide, the new car is completely larger. One lap. ?

In the interior, while the new car continues the refinement of the sedan model, the flexibility of the rear seats and trunk has also been improved. According to the official pictures, the front seats of the new car have a large range of movement forward and backward. After the headrest is removed, the seat backrest can reach 180° when it is completely folded down, thus forming a small single bed.

The rear seats are equipped with a "magic" function. When the seat cushions are folded, a bicycle can be easily placed in the back. Moreover, when the seats are folded down, they can reach a level surface and transform into a "small truck" in just a matter of minutes. It is simply an expert at hauling goods and moving.

In terms of power, all models of the new car will be equipped with a 1.0T three-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 122 horsepower and a peak torque of 173 N·m, matched with a CVT gearbox. Judging from various parameters, the Thai-spec new generation Fengfan uses the same power system as the domestic Lingpai. According to the official introduction, the hatchback version of Fengfan can run 23.3km per 1L of fuel. In other words, the fuel consumption of the new car is just over 4L per 100 kilometers. Rounding up, it means "no need to refuel." ?

In terms of price, the price range of the hatchback version of Fengfan in the Thai market is 599,000-749,000 baht, which is converted into RMB 129,700-162,200 yuan. For comparison, the domestic Fengfan that has been discontinued was previously sold in the range of 79,800 to 119,800 yuan, which is generally about 50,000 yuan cheaper than the Thai version. The difference in price can buy a second-hand Fengfan, and those that sell domestic Fengfan, Friends who sell expensive Fit can also try the Thai version.

Of course, based on the fact that hatchbacks are not popular in the domestic market, and both Guangben and Dongben have deployed Fit in the A0-class market, the author guesses that the new Fengfan hatchback version will most likely miss China. In the market, friends who think this Southeast Asian specialty is more fragrant than the new Fit can only look at it and drool. But then again, the hatchback Civic has "dare" to be put into production, and it seems that the hatchback Fengfan is also possible.

Don’t be discouraged, there is still room for the sedan version

Although the hatchback model will not be introduced, we don’t have to feel too sorry, because there is still room for the sedan version.

As early as the middle of this year, domestic media exposed the patent drawings of the new Guangqi Honda Fengfan, which means that the new car is very likely to be made in China this year and next year. Judging from the picture, the appearance of the new car continues the design of the Thai version, which is more sporty than the old model. However, the layout of the long front overhang and long rear overhang makes the proportions of the new car uncoordinated, and it feels like a "small car platform is forcibly enlarged" "Made" feeling.

As for the power part, judging from the domestic market's rejection of three-cylinder engines, this 1.0T engine may not be put on the domestic version of the model, but will continue to use the same 1.5L four-cylinder engine as the Fit. cylinder engine with a maximum horsepower of 131 horses.

In addition, the overseas version of the Fengfan sedan also provides a 1.5L i-MMD hybrid version with a combined maximum output of 108 horsepower and a peak torque of 253 Nm, matched with an E-CVT gearbox. It is reported that the new car accelerates from 0-100km/h in 9.9 seconds and consumes 3.77L of fuel per 100 kilometers.

“From Civic to Fit”

Although the name “Fengfan” first appeared in 2008, Fengfan has actually been sold in China for nearly 16 years.

In 1996, Honda launched a sedan based on the Civic platform for the Southeast Asian market. The new car was named "city" (which is what we call Fengfan). It was the brand's flagship in the low-cost market. Main vehicle models. ?

After entering the 21st century, under the influence of the MM concept, Honda deployed the Fit model in the global market. From the perspective of the model platform, the positioning of the Fit was lower than that of the city. With the Fit, a lower-cost platform, the shrewd Honda "secretly" downgraded the Civic platform to the Fit platform when it was upgrading the city. ?So, the second-generation city has essentially become a sedan version of the Fit.

When the time came to 2004, the first generation of fit and city settled in Guangqi Honda. The former was named Fit, and the latter was also named Fit. It seems that Guangben was relatively "honest" at the time, and there was no In addition, a higher and more prestigious name was given, but two years later the hatchback and sedan were completely separated, and the latter was named Sidi.

In 2008, after the Fit was replaced, the Fengfan, built on the same platform as it, took over the position of the Citizen and became Guangben's entry-level sedan in the domestic market. So in the final analysis, the predecessor of the Fengfan is Fit sedan.

In addition, Sidi was delisted and transformed into the Concept S1. GAC used the residual value of this old product to continue to harvest leeks. I vaguely remember that when I was in junior high school, several teachers in the school bought the Concept S1. , looking back now, I can’t help but feel sour when I look back at the fact that they bought “Southeast Asian specialties” made in China (this sentence is a joke, teachers, don’t pay attention).

Southeast Asian specialties have been marginalized

Since about 2010, the domestic automobile consumer market has gradually upgraded. The era of "I will buy whatever car you sell" has passed. , consumers have become “voiced”, after all, independent brands have slowly emerged at that time. Therefore, Fengfan and other Southeast Asian specialties can no longer satisfy most consumers. ?

Under such an opportunity, China's special-purpose cars came into being. Guangmoto Lingpai is a very successful example, quickly occupying the A-class car market with its large size and low price. At the same time, the specialties of Central and Southeast Asia have also been slowly forgotten by the market. The monthly sales volume of the old Fengfan before it was discontinued has dropped to a few hundred units, but the Lingpai has remained at more than 10,000 units.

Based on the marginalization of Southeast Asian specialties, the author is not optimistic about the prospects of the new generation of Fengfan in China. For most consumers, the Lingpai with as much space as the Accord is their "hot potato" ".
