The origin of windbreaker

The appearance of windbreaker was less than 100 years ago. British clothing manufacturer Thomas Barbani (Burberry) was engaged in the clothing fabric business when he was young, and actively developed new varieties. With the help of his peers, he finally made waterproof gabardine (a fine cotton cloth) through repeated experiments.

The cotton fabric was successfully used in trench coat and obtained the patent of 1888. During World War I, Thomas Barbani designed a waterproof windbreaker, with double-breasted and double-buckled, with a belt, an openable collar, raglan sleeves and epaulettes, and a covering on the chest and back to prevent rainwater from penetrating, with a large hem and easy movement. Through the trial, the British army thought that this windbreaker was convenient for soldiers to fight in the rain. 19 18, the British army decided to formally adopt it. With the changes of the times, trench coats worn by soldiers have gradually evolved into life clothes, but their styles have always been the basis of modern trench coats. The windbreaker has also developed from a simple man to the coexistence of men and women today, and there are many patterns in style design. In the design of the front, it has developed from the original double-row button to the double-row button, single-row button, single-row button, offset button and so on. Collar design includes lapel, suit collar and stand collar. The sleeves of windbreakers have also become varied, including raglan sleeves, installation sleeves, bat sleeves and so on. The color and decoration of windbreaker have also changed a lot. The styles of women's windbreakers are changing with each passing day. In the international market, windbreaker has become the main variety of clothing.
