By September, 20 13, he had presided over the completion of more than 50 projects including the National 973 Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation of Jiangxi Province, major international bidding projects, the funding plan for key teachers in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, the science and technology development plan of the Ministry of Railways, and the training plan for major academic and technical leaders in Jiangxi Province, and published more than 50 academic papers13 and 6 academic monographs in academic journals at home and abroad. As the first finisher, he won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award 1, the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Railway Society 1, the second prize of natural science in colleges and universities of Ministry of Education 1, the first and second prizes of natural science in Jiangxi Province 1, seven first and second prizes of scientific and technological progress in Jiangxi Province, seven computer software copyrights, four authorized invention patents, and so on.

The research team led by Professor Lei Xiaoyan, combined with the huge demand of the development of high-speed railway and urban rail transit in China, aimed at the increasingly serious environmental vibration and noise problem of rail transit, supported by the National 973 Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation and major provincial science and technology support projects, Industry-University-Research jointly tackled key problems and built a large-scale environmental vibration and noise evaluation and prediction platform based on the analysis theory of vehicle wheel-rail induced environmental vibration and noise. Breakthroughs have been made in the research and development of key technologies, processes and standards for vibration and noise reduction and the industrialization of environmental vibration and noise products, and a number of internationally advanced technologies and equipment have been formed. The research group has obtained 26 authorized invention patents, 9 utility model patents 19, 7 software copyrights and 5 national and industry standards. The research results have been widely used in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen and other key urban rail transit projects, and achieved outstanding results, especially for the Olympic Games, World Expo, Asian Games and other projects. The total direct economic benefit of the project is 287 million yuan and the indirect benefit is 6.4 billion yuan. He has successively presided over two major scientific research projects of the Ministry of Railways, namely, "Influence of 5000-ton heavy-haul trains on track structure and countermeasures" and "Study on technical conditions for edge adjustment of curved rails", which have brought huge economic benefits to enterprises. These two projects passed the ministerial appraisal in 1996 and 200 1 respectively, which solved the influence of heavy-haul trains on track structure and the adjustment of curved rails for the first time.
