The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences conducted the first comparative study of the ten most representative cities in China. The order of urban competitiveness is: Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Suzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Xi and Harbin.
This study starts from three first-level indicators: total quantity, quality and flow, and consists of 14 second-level indicators and 79 third-level indicators. Through quantitative analysis of the agglomeration and diffusion of 10 central cities in economic development, the comprehensive strength of each city is reflected. Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing, which rank the top three in comprehensive strength, scored very close.
The data shows that Shanghai is in a leading position in terms of GDP, urban service facilities and capital flow, but it lags behind Shenzhen, which ranks second in terms of the number of patent applications and the number of scientific and technological personnel. The number of patent applications per 6,543,800+people in Shenzhen is more than twice that in Shanghai, while the number of scientific and technological personnel per 10,000 people in Shanghai has gradually declined in recent years.
Other cities: Beijing ranks first in financial strength and scientific and technological strength; Shenzhen and Guangzhou rank first in information flow and physical logistics respectively; In addition, Harbin has the lowest unemployment rate, and Suzhou is the most suitable place for investment.
