Background
As early as the 16th century, the profound culture of watch manufacturing industry has sprouted in Geneva. The early watchmakers in Geneva were almost fanatical craftsmen, striving for perfection in appearance and performance.
Patek Philippe (15 pieces)
This spirit of striving for perfection in watchmaking has been passed down from generation to generation. In 1838, this spirit laid the foundation for the pioneering work of Antoine de Patek. A few years later, the watchmaker Adricn Philippe joined the company, and soon, the two of them worked together to change the history of the watch manufacturing industry. They invented various new inventions and obtained many patents, such as crown winding and adjusting device. And it has set many records with the accuracy of its mechanical movement, which has not been broken so far.
The factory producing Patek Philippe was built in 1839. The average retail price of each watch is $2, to $3,. They are one of the only truly independent watchmakers in Switzerland. They are self-produced from beginning to end, and it takes 1 years to train a PATEK PHILIPPE watchmaker. The symbol of becoming a watch lover aristocrat is to own a Patek Philippe watch. The noble artistic realm and expensive production materials have shaped Patek Philippe's enduring brand value.
founder
Antoine Norbert de Patek, the founder of Patek Philippe, was originally a Polish revolutionary who resisted Russian rule in 1831. After the failure of the Polish revolution, he fled to France, settled in Geneva, Switzerland, and began to engage in the watch industry. In 1839, he founded Patek Watch Company. In 1844, Anthony Patek and Jean-Adrien Philippe met in an exhibition in Paris. At that time, Jane Philippe had designed a pocket watch with a very thin case, and the traditional watch key was not used for winding and adjustment. This kind of pocket watch was ignored in the exhibition, but Anthony Patek was deeply attracted by its novel design. After some conversation, they immediately reached the intention of cooperation, and in this way, Jane Philippe joined Patek. In 1851, Patek Company officially changed its name to Patek Philippe Company.
factory logo
Patek Philippe's factory logo is a combination of knight's sword and priest's cross, also known as "Kaldoraraba Cross". Its origin is: In 1185, a Spanish city called Caldoraba was invaded by the Moors, and the brave priest Raymond and knight Diego Belas Case led the people in a desperate war of resistance, which finally drove the Moors away. The priest (cross) and the knight (sword), together, become a symbol of solemnity and courage. This symbol just represents the spirit of cooperation between Anthony Patek and Jane Philippe. This factory logo has been in use since 1857.
Honor
Patek Philippe Company won a great honor after its establishment: at the London World Expo in 1851, Queen Victoria of England selected and bought a Patek Philippe bag watch. This bag watch with a new handle hangs from a gold pin with 13 diamonds, and the enamel blue gold watch cover is decorated with roses made of diamonds. At that time, the Queen's husband, Prince Bert, also bought a Patek Philippe hunting watch. Famous people buy high-quality goods, and Patek Philippe has thus established its aristocratic status. In order to pursue the high level of products, Patek Philippe spared no expense in material selection. The early Patek Philippe case was made of sterling silver and 18K gold. Since the last century, 18K gold (including gold, platinum, rose gold, etc.) and even platinum have been mostly used. Only a small part of the pure steel case came later. Patek Philippe watch movements all use high diamonds. In the early days, watches were more than 15 diamonds, and later products were more than 29 diamonds. Some gold watches with complex performance made in 196s have a drilling number as high as 37, which is rare among similar watches.
Patek Philippe has always been in the leading position in watch technology, with several patents. Since Patek Philippe won the first patent of "winding the handle" in 1851, the major patent items include precise regulator, double timer, large spiral balance wheel, peripheral self-winding rotor, and related balancing axle center devices. From 1949 to 1979 alone, there were 4 patents, the number of which was the highest in the famous list.
Patek Philippe's exquisite manufacturing technology has created many top brand watches. In 1927, at the order of American automobile king Bogart, the company made a spring watch that could play his mother's favorite lullaby, which was worth 83 Swiss francs at that time. At the request of Greaves, a great collector in new york, Patek Philippe made a pocket watch with time, time difference and star chart in five years from 1928 to 1933. Its exquisiteness has become a milestone in the history of clocks and watches. In 1985, Patek Philippe produced a model 94 multifunctional watch, which has the functions of full automation, calendar, moon phase, leap moon, automatic jump day and so on. The body thickness is only 3.75 mm, making it the thinnest watch of its kind.
