A brief history of bicycle tires

Later, when the explorer Columbus explored the New World for the second time from 1493 to 1496 and reached the island of Haiti in the West Indies, he was surprised to find a rubber lump that local children played with. Later, he brought this wonderful thing back to his motherland. A few years later, rubber was widely used, and wheels gradually changed from wood to hard rubber. But at this time, the rubber tires were still solid, which made it uncomfortable to walk on and made a lot of noise. It was not until 1845 that R.w. Thomson, a Scottish-born civil engineer, invented the pneumatic tire and obtained a patent from the British government on the title of "Improvements in Wheels for Carriages and Other Vehicles." On December 10 of the same year, the first pneumatic tire was born. The first person to buy pneumatic tires was named Luo Li, who was a nobleman. The total price of the four tires was forty-four pounds and two shillings. In 1847, "Scientific America" ??magazine introduced Thomson's pneumatic tire, calling it an epoch-making improvement. However, the United Kingdom at that time paid too much attention to traditional gentrification. In order to protect horse-drawn carriages and restrict the development of steam vehicles, the speed of cars was limited to 2 miles per hour (about 3.2 kilometers) in urban areas and 4 miles (about 6.4 kilometers) in suburbs. In this way, Thomson's invention had no market, and therefore, it was slowly forgotten by people. In other words, Thomson's first tire revolution did not bring light like the sun to mankind, because the darkness that mankind should endure does not seem to have ended yet. But the sun always comes out, because humans and all things need it. More than 40 years later, in 1888, Mr. J.B. Dunlop, a veterinarian in Ireland, obtained the patent for pneumatic tires. At that time, Mr. J.B. Dunlop's 10-year-old son Johnny bought a three-wheeled bicycle. However, because the tires at that time were still solid tires made of hard rubber, it was very uncomfortable to walk on a road full of stones. Comfortable, his son's complaints inspired Mr. Dunlop, so the pneumatic tires, which had been forgotten for more than forty years, came out again. With the advancement of the times, the pneumatic tires invented by Mr. Dunlop were quickly applied to bicycles and quickly moved into the automotive field, making great contributions to the development of the world's automotive industry.
