About industrial synthetic ammonia

German chemist Fritz Haber (186865438+February 9th-193465438+1October 29th) was born in Silesia, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland) to a Jewish family. I have a strong interest in the chemical industry since I was a child.

After graduating from high school, Harper went to universities in Berlin, Heidelberg and Zurich. During his school days, he also worked as an intern in several factories and gained a lot of practical experience. He loved the great occupation of Justus von Liebig, the father of German agricultural chemistry-chemical industry.

During his college years, under the guidance of Professor Hoffman of Berlin University, Harper wrote a paper on organic chemistry, for which he obtained a doctorate. 1904, Harper, with the strong support of two entrepreneurs, began to study the industrial production of synthetic ammonia, and succeeded in 1909, becoming the first scientist to produce ammonia from air. Since then, mankind has got rid of the passive situation of relying on natural nitrogen fertilizer and accelerated the development of world agriculture. Hubble has since become a world-famous great scientist. In recognition of Hubble's contribution, the Royal Swedish Academy awarded Hubble 19 18 the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. During the First World War, when Harper was the director of the chemical arsenal, he was responsible for the development and production of toxic gases such as chlorine gas and mustard gas, which were used in the war, causing nearly one million casualties. Although according to his own statement, this was to "end the war as soon as possible", Hubble's behavior was still condemned by scientists in the United States, Britain, France and China, and Hubble's wife Imeva committed suicide to protest.

After World War I, Hubble made another experiment to extract gold from seawater, but it failed in the end. At the beginning of 1934, he was sent to the Palestinian Institute of Physical Chemistry. 1934 65438+1October 29th Harper died of a heart attack in Basel, Switzerland.
